Jumanji Themed Test Prep: Part 2
We officially have 14 days before our Reading test and our test prep centers are in full swing! You may have read here about how I transformed my “Reading Boot Camp” into a “Test Prep Jungle Adventure” and I wanted to follow up with even more information about how I make this themed test prep work in my room.
First, I put up pockets for each student. I teach two groups of 3rd grade readers, which means two sets of pockets. If you don’t have a place to put pockets, you could use the pockets of one of their folders.
The obstacles from the book, Jumanji, pop up on random days and the students have to have enough gold tags to escape.
My students have been chugging along, warning tags. When they get enough to meet a challenge, they can trade them in for stickers along their game board. They have to complete the challenges in order.
I have been using four main centers, each with support staff, that the students rotate through.

You can read more about the file folder centers here. If you’re more of a visual learner, watch the quick video I made in my classroom to explain how it works.
Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear about how you keep your students motivated during testing season. Let me know in the comments.
Talk to you soon,
