Teacher Truth: Today, I was not feeling it and I tried to cancel small groups and convince them to buddy read or read online instead, but they weren’t having it. For some reason they love this core extension time where we sit 6-to-1 and they are all working on the specific math skills they struggle with. If there is one thing about my students, they will work for a sticker. 🤣 Here’s a peak at our math skills tracking (with a tiny glimpse of our reading tracker sheet).

Today we turned reading test prep into a game!✨I taped some of my water bottle stickers on to magnets and each team got to roll a dice and move their piece for correct answers to our IXL whole group review.

April is National Poetry Month, but we started ear

April is National Poetry Month, but we started early! I was so excited to use the 30 days of poetry PPT and journal that I created, so I wanted to make sure my students got a chance to complete all 30 days. They are loving it!💕😊

Every day I introduce a different poem type, poem tool, or children’s poet. Then, we follow up the slide with the correlating journal page to respond in some sort of creative way. I can’t wait to see their finished poetry portfolios at the end of April.

Monday starts our Encanto themed test prep! ✨Next week we will have 6 weeks until our reading test so I decided to revamp our bootcamp to be Encanto themed since our kids are obsessed.

Each week they will earn stickers in their sticker book and we will get closer to Casita on our bulletin board as we put up the character of the week. Once they test and reach Casita, we are celebrating with a party!🎉

My bestie @lindslereads runs test prep bootcamp with me each year and this board is 100% her!

Stickers have been getting me through this year.⭐️My students will work for a sticker and take their sticker layouts seriously.🤣

Students can earn stickers on their reading, writing, or math notebooks for every 3 assignments completed. They can earn stickers for their Tuesday folder when they reach their Lexia minutes for the week. They can earn stickers for meeting their small group remediation goals. We even have some stickers mixed in with the goodies in our mystery reward box.
